The Monnig Meteorite Gallery at TCU
The Monnig Meteorite Gallery is located in the science building at Texas Christian University. The space serves as an education center for not only campus students, but the surrounding community as well. Oscar Monnig, local business man and meteorite enthusiast, donated his vast collection to the school before his passing. The facility wanted to update their introduction theatre with new seating, media, wall graphics and effects.
Museum Arts stepped into to create a space where individuals and classes of students can learn about how the origins of the collection as well as factors that make the artifacts truly unique in our area. Other updates included a game kiosk to learn about the different types of impacts that meteorites can create. And finally, a touchscreen and map of Texas was developed and installed containing information about the collection, where the objects landed from the sky, and what they are composed of.
